Purple Door Ice Cream announced that it is among the vendors that will inhabit the forthcoming Mequon Public Market at 6300 W. Mequon Rd., just west of the Mequon Town Center.

Purple Door will join nine other tenants in the food-based Spur 16 development, including Anodyne Coffee Roasting, which will open its fifth cafe in the market.

"Purple Door is thrilled to be a part of the Mequon Public Market at Spur 16," said Purple Door Ice Cream owners Lauren and Steve Schultz, in a press release. "This is Purple Door's first footprint expansion into the greater Milwaukee area. We love the restoration of the old public works building and being involved with a new piece of Mequon history."

The Public Market is a curated development spearheaded by Mequon-based Shaffer Development, which aims to be a go-to destination for prepared foods, farm fresh produce, music and culture. In addition to vendors, the market will be activated by a variety of events including a farmer's market, live music and movie events and a variety of art and craft fairs.

Both the Mequon Public Market and St. Paul Fish Market, which will be located on the same propoerty, are expected to open as soon as early fall. The development's apartments, which will feature over 150 luxury residential units, are slated to open by summer of 2019.
