Planned Mequon Public Market lands Anodyne Coffee, part of mixed-use development

The planned Mequon Public Market has landed Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. as a tenant.

Shaffer Development is building the Mequon Public Market as part of its Spur 16 mixed-use project. Spur 16 is on the north side of W. Mequon Road, west of Mequon Town Center and east of Buntrock Ave. 

Spur 16's first announced business was St. Paul Fish Co., which, like Anodyne, also has a location at the Milwaukee Public Market in the Historic Third Ward.

St. Paul Fish will be in a renovated former industrial building next to the Mequon Public Market, which will have around 10 food and beverage outlets.

Mequon Public Market and Spur 16's additional commercial space are expected to open by early fall. The development's apartments are to open by summer of 2019.

Matthew and Lacee McClutchy own Anodyne Coffee, which also has locations in Bay View, Walker’s Point and Wauwatosa.

“After visiting the space and listening to the vision for Spur 16 we couldn't be more excited to be involved," Matthew McClutchy said in a statement. "We look forward to working with the other businesses in creating a unique market that Mequon and all the North Shore communities will embrace as their very own."

Mequon Public Market, Empire Fish and other commercial space, totaling 20,000 square feet, will be on Spur 16's southern portion.

The apartments will be on the northern portion, featuring three three-story apartment buildings, totaling 155 units, and 10 town homes.

The development's grounds will include a weekend farmers market, food trucks, and art and musical events. 

Spur 16 is named for the site's historic railroad spur.
